Why you should be excited

State Fair is a sweet and delicious summer apple that reminds you of days gone by.

The story of State Fair

With a name that evokes early 20th century agrarian mid-America, State Fair surprises us by delivering greater firmness than you usually get with an early apple.

And it surprises us again when we learn that it wasn’t introduced until the 1970s -- long after the heyday of mid-America’s agri-culture -- and has been part of a highly successful breeding program centred in Minnesota.

Whatever its origins, this is a very nice eating apple to highlight the earlier part of the apple season, delivering juicy, creamy flesh and wonderful aromatics.
